Endoscopic Brow Lift vs. Traditional Brow Lift
Some surgeons offer different brow lift techniques to better meet patients’ needs. By offering both endoscopic brow lift surgery and traditional brow lift surgery to his patients, Dr. Pollack can recommend the best technique to help them achieve the excellent results they desire. With both techniques, brow lift surgery can help patients restore youthful lift, softness, and smoothness to their brow and forehead area.
Endoscopic Brow Lift Technique
For the endoscopic brow lift technique, Dr. Pollack makes tiny incisions hidden in the scalp. He then inserts an endoscope through one of the incisions. The endoscope has a camera attached to a monitor and allows the surgeon to easily see the underlying tissues without having to make long incisions. Through the other incisions and using the visual field provided by the endoscope, Dr. Pollack adjusts the tissues of the forehead to rejuvenate its appearance. He also places small hooks underneath the skin of the eyebrows to hold them in place and minimize the risk of future sagging. The surgical process allows Dr. Pollack to smooth out wrinkles and frown lines in the forehead and raise the brows to a more youthful and attractive position.
Traditional Standard (Open) Brow Lift Technique
For the traditional brow lift technique, Dr. Pollack makes an incision behind the hairline that goes along the top of the head and extends down to the temporal regions. This longer incision provides full visual access to the area so that Dr. Pollack can make the desired changes. Dr. Pollack lifts the eyebrows to a more youthful position and removes excess skin, pulling the remaining tissues taut so that the forehead becomes smoother. Through this technique, Dr. Pollack can correct drooping brows and forehead lines and restore a more rested and youthful appearance to the upper face.
Both techniques are considered excellent procedures and offer dramatic, long-lasting results. The major difference between them is in the length of the incision: with the traditional technique, the incision is much longer. However, all incisions are placed in the scalp so that they are hidden by the hair. As is typical with surgical incisions, any scarring is expected to fade over time. Dr. Pollack will recommend the best technique for you based on your needs as expressed and evaluated during your personal consultation.
